The Role

Reporting directly to the Board, responsible for all aspects of the sales pipeline from initial prospecting through to close. Working as a key member of the executive team to deliver revenues above and beyond plan – and to contribute feedback market/customer perspectives and insight to product development roadmap. Over time, this role will be responsible for building-out and managing a high-performing sales team focussed on US agency and direct-client relationships.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, goal-driven and able to focus clearly on what matters in delivering sales. Persistent, determined and persuasive, the successful candidate will relish the responsibility of driving the sales pipeline from initial prospecting through to closing sales. The candidate will have empathy for customers’ businesses and a passion for delivering maximum value for clients through digital marketing/advertising solutions. Confident, yet self-aware the successful candidate will have the credibility to engage senior decision makers as well as more junior customer staff in marketing/ecommerce roles. This role would suit a sales hunter, rather than farmer.

The business development manager is responsible for all aspects of sales & marketing to deliver revenues from assigned territories.

This high-profile role includes the following responsibilities :
• Proven track record in generating new business in ecommerce, advertising, marketing, ad sales or affiliate/performance marketing industries
• Pro-actively generating new business opportunities through professional prospecting including outbound telemarketing – the ability to generate and close your own leads and appointments is key
• Highly self-motivated, organised and able to manage own time effectively for maximum results
• Taking full P&L responsibility for the sales pipeline from initial prospecting to repeat sales, with confidence in/experience of delivering against quota.
• Owning and managing the sales plan and delivering month-on-month against the plan
• Meeting and exceeding sales targets month-by-month
• Entrepreneurial in outlook with a strong commercial focus and advanced negotiating skills
• Experience in driving sales from contacts both face-to-face and over the phone
• Developing and maintaining senior level contacts within client organisations
• Confidence & enjoyment in meeting new people and presenting to others
• Great oral, written (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) English communication skills (a second European language is helpful, not essential)
• An ability to assess market movements, customer needs/wants and to use this insight to liaise with product management to refine & inspire the internal product roadmap

Future Prospects
This role offers prospects to move up to manage additional country-level territories within 12 months as well as prospects for directorship. The role is eligible for share options after a qualifying period as includes provision of expensed mobile phone, laptop and travelling expenses.
