Business Development Representative (BDR)

The Courion Business Development Representative (BDR) will penetrate large organizations, using advanced sales & marketing techniques to develop a large quantity of high quality new business opportunities. Once developed, the BDR will deliver these high quality opportunities to their partners, the Courion Regional Sales Managers (RSM), and assist them in driving for closed revenue. In many cases, the BDR will be expected to nurture contacts and accounts until they are ready for the RSM to engage. Courion BDRs are provided with both inbound marketing leads as well as a substantial database of qualified prospects to call on.

The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with outbound prospecting, calling director, VP and C-level prospects. Experience calling into an organization from multiple angles (IT and business) is a plus. Proven ability to prospect into large (20,000 employees or larger) organizations is a huge plus. A heavy emphasis on leveraging CRM for daily activities as well as a desire to strive for constant skill improvement is required.   • Contact 250 – 300 director level prospects per week, using Courion’s campaign driven inside sales process
  • Learn high level details about Courion’s customers; including key business challenges, solutions delivered and tangible results — and use those to build credibility with new prospects
  • Engage prospects with a unique cold calling approach and thoughtful, compelling emails
  • Build actionable account penetration plans in partnership with an RSM
  • Develop leads, contacts, accounts and opportunities via CRM
  • Respond aggressively to inbound marketing leads, while also targeting the same organizations with proactive sales outreach
  • Work with the inside sales manager to develop sales scripts and guides that enhance the BDR team’s productivity
  • Attend trade shows as needed in assigned geographical territory


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years sales experience
  • Aptitude to grasp technical concepts and relate them to prospects in a simplified business language
  • Strong phone presence
  • Intense curiosity about prospects’ business challenges
  • Desire to win, and work for a winning organization
  • Excellence in written communication, especially email
  • Impactful individual contributor with a team-first attitude
